  2. Hello Sahdev Ji

This is a very good checklist of birds spotted in & around Jaipur and helps people like me who are new to birding a lot.
Today I spotted and clicked a Thick-Knee (Eurasian or indian?) among a few Red Wattled Lapwings in Jaipur. The bird was very agile and fast on feet. It ran along the scrubs and made a few rounds, occasionally flying for short distances while the lapwings were quite comfortable in contrast. Although I did clicked some good pictures in this span. I failed to locate the bird in the local checklist, hence, in doubt. Maybe you could confirm the exact i.d.

  3. Hello Shivam, that's an excellent photo of a Eurasian Thick-knee.
I shall certainly add your record to the checklist.
In my opinion (from observations across Rajasthan) this crepuscular / nocturnal species is increasingly finding itself at home in a variety of urban habitats - though I would have to confess that I have personally never seen or heard it near Jaipur.

  4. Thank you Sahdev Ji,
    Sorry for the late response...
I'm a novice at birding, but your blog inspires a lot.... of late have started to recognise fairly good number of species which were previously unknown to me. Thanks to you. Would love go for a birding trip with you.
    Regards,
    Shivam
